Sunday Sermon Outline: Everything will be destroyed!

“Everything will be destroyed”
2 Peter 3:11-14

Introduction:
2 Peter 3:7, “by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly people.”
2 Peter 3:11-14, “Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! 13 But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. 14 Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found spotless and blameless by Him, at peace.”

I. We should change our behavior. v. 11

“looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!"

Philippians 4:11, “I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.”
Revelation 22:15, “Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral persons, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.”
Revelation 22:20. “Yes, I am coming quickly.” “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.”

III. We should look forward to our permanent home. v. 13
“But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.”

IV. We should actively work to make peace with God. v. 14
“Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found spotless and blameless by Him, at peace.”

Romans 5:1-11, “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we also have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we celebrate in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only this, but we also celebrate in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. 6 For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will hardly die for a righteous person; though perhaps for the good person someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only this, but we also celebrate in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.”
