Sunday Sermon Outline: Faith Basics

"Faith Basics"

I. The Importance of Faith
Hebrews 11:6, “without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”
Romans 1:16-17, “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."”
     Romans 3:20, 28

II. The Biblical Concept of Faith
2 Thessalonians 1:8, God “will punish those who do not know [Him] and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.”
Hebrews 3:18‑19, “To whom did God swear that they would never enter His rest if not to those who disobeyed? 19 So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.”
James 2:17, “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

III. The Many Faces of Faith
     Luke 12:28; John 12:42; Matthew 8:10
Ephesians 2:8, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
James 2:26, “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.”
     Matthew 23:27

IV. The Saving Power of Faith
     Luke 19:10; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Hebrews 9:12; Romans 6:16‑18; 6:3‑7

V. The Fellowship of Faithfulness
